Aloha everyone!

Welcome to the newly created wine blog for the Lanai City Bar & Grill website. In case we haven’t met yet, my name is Chuck Furuya & I am the Lānai City Bar & Grill’S wine guy!

Our core values for wines include:

— Working with family owned & operated

— Indigenous grape vines, when applicable

— Heirloom/ heritage vines

— Farmed sustainably

We then look to create a matrix of wine offerings for a wide array of wine drinkers—for those looking just to drink (no think) wine; those looking for the wine & food niche (with our unpretentious, earnest grill foods); those looking for value and finally for those looking for some of the very best offerings from around the world. Finally We look to source & present them at Grill pricing (as opposed to table cloth & candle).

Still wanting to keep the list small & ever changing, we then scour, dig around, proactively source, even special order interesting wines to fill each niche. AND, then with the thought of continually evolving—almost with a seasonal mentality.

Our team has then worked hard to secure storing & serving our wines at appropriate temperatures.

We subsequently switched our glassware to those from Riedel. To take care of them, we transition to two dishwashers for the glassware—one with detergent, rinse solution & disinfectant (as is expected by law)…& the other dishwasher using hot water to get rid of any chemical smells or residuals. Then, we hand polish each.

What is, after all, more important to a wine drinker than serving “good” wine… at the right temperature… and in clean glassware?

As we head into 2023, we are now looking to add some fun, interesting wine venues every month when I come visiting.

One highlight every month will be a wine tasting featuring FOUR wine “discoveries” we have selected, as we look to explore the "World of Wines” together. The second scheduled opportunity— “Out on the Patio”.—will center on a different wine & food theme every month.

We will feature a very thought provoking wine which we have procured to which Chef Christian Page will create, cook & serve an array of pupus to enjoy alongside.
